My kitten loves to watch me pee
he has a strange fascination with the toilet—
I think perhaps he'd like to learn
how to use it himself.
But I'm afraid he'd be a water waster
his favorite part is watching it
flush down the bowl.
He gets right between my legs
and puts his paws on the rim
to see that water flush
into oblivion.
So much to explore
and try to comprehend
at his young age.
And so much energy…
at 2 am he'll be bouncing around
like an incredibly spry 7 year-old
entranced by a rubber band.
Chewing on the end of this pen
as I write—
like a maniac
but ever now and then
looking down to see
what I've written
